2009 Ski Season

The 2009 Ski Season was filled with-well-rain, rain and more rain. After canceling our 2008 show due to lack of water in the lake, we had the opposite experience in 2009. You could almost set your watch by the crack of thunder at 4:45 pm every Thursday, causing us to cancel many practices. As the show drew near, we added Monday and weekend practices, only to discover that the rain (or more likely, thunder) seemed to follow us where ever we went.

So it was fitting that on the night of the show, right on schedule, a thunderstorm was bearing down on us as we started the show. We actually started a little bit early, in the hopes that we would get through everything before it was too dangerous to be on the water. With two acts to go, the distant rumble of thunder gave way to lightning strikes and i In the interest of safety, we called the show.

Notwithstanding our challenges, this was a successful year. Our focus from the beginning of the year was to get youth involved and we did. The show included six youth performing for their first time. Two of these, Brandon and Morgan Papesh learned to ski in June! We also had a few members from past ski club years return. Diane Cotellese performed as a child in the 70's and Shannon Oates in the 80's. Both of Diane's children were also in the show.
